Lay Readers read the lessons and the petitions on Sundays and other holy days. There's no special training required of Lay Readers. Lay Readers are assigned to read either the Old Testament lesson, the Epistle or the Petitions for either the 8:00am or 10:00am Holy Eucharist. A schedule is prepared quarterly, and a copy of the coming week's readings is mailed to the readers in advance of the service. Each Lay Reader is typically scheduled for approximately 10 Sundays during the year.
