Ushers and Greeters
Being an Usher and/or being a Greeter is an important ministry and a great chance to help newcomers and old friends at St. Paul's. You can usher at either the 8:00 or the 10:00 service; both men and women participate. In ushering, you greet parishioners and newcomers at the door and guide them into the church. During the service, ushers take up the collection and manage the presentation of the elements for communion. They also are on hand to deal with any unusual events, and to help people as needed (e.g., to find a restroom). We are a welcoming group and enjoy being helpful and making the service run smoothly. If you're interested, contact Ed Ford.
Being a Greeter is also an important part of our welcoming nature at St. Paul's. After either the 8:00 or the 10:00 service, a Greeter (or two) welcomes newcomers at the main doors of the narthex. We chat a bit, ask them to sign our guest book, introduce them to others, and make certain that they are engaged in conversation at coffee hour. After the service, the Greeter sends a friendly note to those newcomers who have signed the guest book (a special card is available for this). For a small investment of time, you can be an important part of our outreach and friendly spirit.
We welcome any and all who would like to be a Greeter; contact Ed Ford at 510-530-6531 for more information.
